Rejection in dating
Thoughts begin popping into our minds: Do I need to lose a few pounds? Somehow, when you dated him, you thought you that he was God’s gift to the world, but the second you hear that word ‘no,’ you begin to mutilate every memory of him that you possess. But there is another way of viewing the situation – a healthier way that is more in accordance with Jewish values. Is it my fault that my parents don’t have an education? It’s a way that affords one the opportunity to move on while still believing in the goodness and quality of the other person.Rejection plays a big part in all walks of life and online dating, like every other relationship, isn’t all flowers and butterflies all of the time.Yet, like many before me have said, it isn’t the rejection you should focus on, but the way you deal with it and rebound. For those of us who have been involved in the dating scene for a while, the concept of rejection is not a new one.
People who reject you rarely give a lot of reasons or facts to help you figure out why they acted as they did. Sometimes it's possible to do everything right, but do it in the wrong way.
My phone rings and I hear the subdued voice of a close friend on the other line, “He said no. Eventually that abrasive word begins to grate on us.
It could come after we have just met someone and were excited;it could come after things have gotten more serious and we were hopeful.
Because our ancestors survived by being a part of a tribe, this need remains inside us and means that memories of rejection are stronger and more easily remembered than those of physical pain.
Give it a go yourself – thinking of some of your most painful memories will no doubt bring back emotionally painful thoughts over those times when you were in physical pain.
